A clean room is very clean because it has to be. It’s hard to imagine, but a microscopic spec of dust can ruin a microchip or other product that must be manufactured under room conditions that are 99.99% dust particulate-free. So a clean room must be a very clean room, indeed. Today’s technology is remarkably effective at removing microscopic dust particles from the air, and those who work in a clean room must wear special clothing and hair coverings to ensure that a clean room remains dust-free.
